Vaclav Klaus vs. Jaroslav Pros

I decided to contribute with some environmental oriented article because it is blog action day today http://blogactionday.com/

I have shaken hand of Vaclav Klaus on one of his pre-election meetings, before he was elected as Czech president and although i did not like everything he was saying, i was always supporting him. But i do not like his opinions about environmental issues, so i decided to give you my opinions about some of his views, for complete article check http://www.klaus.cz/klaus2/asp/clanek.asp?id=pxJQbZiEtmMH

Vaclav Klaus: the increase in global temperatures in the last years, decades and centuries has been very small
Jaroslav Pros: It depends what is very small for him, for people on islands 10 centimetres above ocean, is every 0,1 Celsius degrees very dangerous.

Vaclav Klaus:The arguments of global warming alarmists rely exclusively upon very speculative forecasts, not upon past experience.
Jaroslav Pros: Again i cannot agree, their forecasts are speculative like all forecasts, how close will they be, we will see, but there are already some proven facts from past.

Václav Klaus:the scientific dispute about the causes of recent climate changes continues.
Jaroslav Pros: I agree, but still there are some facts, which cannot be forgotten, including cars polution, forests cutting, natural resources depletion etc.

Vaclav Klaus:a rational response to any danger depends on the size and probability of the eventual risk and on the magnitude of the costs of its avoidance.
Jaroslav Pros: I agree that it is very expensive to take care of nature and that if our generation will invest money to protect environment, that the impact will not be so huge, but do we have the right to not think about next generations?

Vaclav Klaus:Economic growth, increase of wealth and technical progress represent the solution to the consequences of eventual climate changes, not their cause.
Jaroslav Pros: If poor south has the same economic growth, increase of wealth and technical progress as rich north, the earth would be devastated in few decades.

Vaclav Klaus:What the world needs now is to remain “quite normal”.
Jaroslav Pros: I do not think that this is the solution, because the approach to environment is not “quite normal”, but “quite bad” :(
